Behind the Label: "Dermatologist recommended..." part 2

This is a continuation of a previous post discussing the use of the phrase "Dermatologist Recommended."  I decided to contact the Canadian Dermatology Society to find out a bit more about "Dermatologist Recommended."  I sent an email asking about the phrase and received this reply:

"The claim "dermatologist recommended" is not a Canadian Dermatology Association statement, but rather a claim that is being made by the brand owner of the product.  This kind of claim usually refers to a consulting or a company-employed dermatologist."

She also informed me that any time the phrase is used by the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) it will be accompanied by a seal.  If there is no seal then it is not certified by the CDA.  What I found most interesting about her reply is that the "claim usually refers to a consulting or company-employed dermatologist."  So a dermatologist gets paid to recommend a product, doesn't seem very ethical to me.
